While I love education, there are two kinds: formal and informal. I do enjoy the structure of Formal Schooling, despite many bad experiences. I far prefer informal education. Or as Mark Twain put it, ❝ I have never let my schooling interfere with my education ❞

2019.06.20 University Strips Name of Lillian Gish from Campus Theater - “First Lady of American Cinema” (Lillian Gish) has had her name removed from a Ohio's Bowling Green University Theater, because over 100 years ago, she appeared in the 1915 Democrat Racist film "The Birth of a Nation". While I'm not a fan of that particular piece of Democrat propaganda, it was one film in her youth, from a 75 year career that covered well over 100 films. Get over it little snowflakes.

Betsy DeVos -
Democrats despise DeVos from the day she was nominated, and not a single Democrat voted for her to be confirmed (voting against confirmation is not supposed to be political, but whether they are morally unfit for office). She was an accomplished Woman that believed parents should have more control over school choice than government bureaucrats: that made her public enemy #1.

Cost of Education.jpg
Cost of Education - Since the U.S. nationalized part of education, the costs have skyrocketed and the quality has plummeted. The U.S. spends more per world than most of the world that outperforms us. So now a quiz: what did we learn from that?

Do something -
After every mass shooting (especially School shootings), there's the hue and cry, "this happened again, we have to do something!" They usually don’t say what, and the few who do, usually aren't very informed on the topic. So let's tear it down and look at what we should do, and should not do, and what people are asking for. And understand why were are likely to stay divided between gun controllers and those with a clue.

My Education -
These are some stories from my life experiences going to school (starting in the 1970's). I have a real problem with education in America, as I've been a victim of it. Not only as a child but also as an adult. I've worked for educational software companies like Jostens Learning and later PowerSchool; as well as going to various schools as a trainer, consultant or observer. I also taught Martial Arts for a couple decades which means I was working with many more kids than most. So I've seen education from a few different perspectives.

Quote - Mark Twain on Education - I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. (Disputed)

Redacted High School - In San Francisco's George Washington High School, the board voted to remove the mural of their namesake, painted in 1936 by artist Victor Arnautoff (Trotskyite), because it was visually offensive. The 80 year old mural has survived great earthquakes, riots, vagrants, and all the other natural disasters, but it can't stand up to the California Taliban which finds the historical image of George Washington at Mt. Vernon (with slaves), too historically accurate for them to bare. And because it is SF, it is going to cost upwards of $825,000 to put paint to roller... after getting the required environmental impact studies. In California, spending money on teaching kids takes a back seat to political correctness and revising history.

School Lunches - Democrats (Michelle Obama) decided to make socialized federal nutritional mandates ("Smarter Lunchrooms") as her cause, used debunked junk science to do it, and removed nutrition and flavor to the point where (a) kids ate fewer school lunches: lower utilization (b) threw more of it away: higher waste (c) and ate out of vending machines instead: ate worse. When Trump tried to fix it by allowing smarter states to opt-out, #resist States decided to sue to protest us from allowing anyone else to offer better choices for their students than they were.

School sucks -
So why does School suck? Because public education (and the bureaucrats who run it) suck the joy out of it, and beat it with a conformity stick until anything that once resembled individuality looks like roadkill on the edge of a highway. Which is why homeschoolers are generally happier and outperform the indoctrinated drones that go to the liberal re-education camp. Here are a few things I'd try to make school better.

UCSC to destroy liberty bells - University of California, Santa Cruz will remove a major historical artifact from campus. The El Camino Mission Bells were put there in 1906 to highlight the path of the 21 California Missions, and the “Spanish Mission” bells that were used between 1769 and 1833, were one of the anchors. Of course some of the California Taliban crybullied the UC system into removing them because history hurts their feelings. In California, spending money on teaching kids takes a back seat to political correctness and altering history.
