Christians
This section is to discuss one of the most persecuted minorities in the world: Christians. Of course, that's a bit overstated, as they have wide swaths of the country and world where they are not looked down on nor condescended to. But in Urban and especially Liberal areas (California, NY, etc), or leftist countries, they're often treated like superstitious ignoramuses. And in much of the world, they are openly persecuted (especially smaller sects of Christianity like Jehovah's witnesses, LDS, and so on). So while I don't mind an introspective media willing to navel gaze on our own REAL problems, I do have a problem with selective blindness, that tries to defend the intersectionally oppressed (in a county where say Muslims have the most freedom in the world), while ignoring real persecutions going on wherever Muslims or Socialists (Collectivists) gain control. These is just some examples of the problem.
Examples
Here are a few examples of Christians having "issues" and not being allowed to practice their own beliefs, or even exist. Christians : 7 items
2018.05.22 Paige Patterson - The left (and WaPo) hate Conservative Christians, especially their leaders. And they love flocking to a good lynching: so they did a #metoo hit-piece on Paige Patterson (head of the Southern Baptist Convention) claiming he slut-shamed/blamed and urged a former seminary student (Megan Lively) not to report a rape. But the facts hint strongly at a different story, and it was a journalists responsibility to report all the facts.
2019.04.17 NYT fails Christians-101 - After the Notre Dame fire, the Times reported that Father Jean-Marc Fournier (Paris Fire Department chaplain) went in to save holy relics, "the crown of thorns and a statue of Jesus". There was no statue, it was most likely "the Blessed Sacrament" (referred to as "the Body of Christ") and the idiot reporters and fact checkers didn't know what that means, or know to ask, so figured, "statue". If this was the first gaffe, who cared, but the NYT has a history of having no Christians on staff to correct their semi-regular blunders.
Armenian Genocide - Of course, an entire religion/culture shouldn't ONLY be remembered for their worst acts. But their worst acts shouldn't be forgotten either. And if they refuse to acknowledge it, then they need to be reminded of it even more. The Islamic Turks exterminate 1.5 million Christian Armenians and 300K Assyrians, and Islamic intolerance/tribalism was at the heart of the reasons. So the Christians had the Spanish Inquisition with 2K executed for heresy as recent as the 1700's. And the Muslims have a couple million, at the turn of the 20th century.
Bible - I'm a fairly well read atheist, who was baptized Catholic, raised mostly Christian (with different sectual overtones), my father is Muslim, and I went to private religious schools in elementary school and College, and who has had many religious friends and influences. I have read the Bible a few times, but also read information about the Bible and its origins, and I enjoy discussing these subjects with people far more educated than myself. These are my opinions on the history and origins of the Bible, not to malign others views -- just because I get a certain peace and closure out of writing my thoughts down.
Christians: Global Persecution - 245 Million Christians are persecuted, in 50 countries - in more countries than any other religious group. They have been attacked by extremist groups in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Philippines, as well as in India and China. That's not even counting the Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka. This has extinguished their populations in many areas, and in other, put them on the verge of extinction.
- Christians in Palestine represent less than 1.5% of the population
- In Iraq they had fallen from 1.5 million before 2003 to less than 120,000 in 2019
Christians: US Persecution - In the USA, persecution is a strong word. It happens, but I think bias, bigotry, and harassment is more often the case. But the left does have an extreme contempt for anyone that has values and doesn't agree with them, and they demonstrate it regularly to the point of trying to push litmus tests on candidates AGAINST their religious beliefs... if they're Christians. Their complete and utter contempt for VP Mike Pence is an example. But they attack lots of individuals like the owner of Chik-fil-a, or even the games played in private schools.
Memes-Christian - Memes about Christians/Christianity. The purpose isn't to barb, but to have fun laughing at ourselves... or sometimes others.
