Belkin International, is the parent company for Belkin, Linksys and Wemo: American manufacturers of consumer electronics that specializes in connectivity devices including routers, iPod and iPhone accessories, mobile computing accessories, surge protectors, network switches, hubs, (USB and computer network) cables, KVM switches, racks and enclosures, and other peripherals.

I stopped buying their products because every router I had from them seemed to overheat and die after 2 years. After like 2 or 3, I learned. Their reputation for routers is bad. For simple plaster accessories or other things it's not that bad.

During the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic they decided to EOL their Wemo NetCam. [1] This was incredibly shortsighted as a lot of people use these devices to monitor their second homes or summer properties over the Internet -- and they can't just fly there and/or replace these cameras when things are locked down. A 30 day sunset plan is beyond incompetently managed, and if I had one of their cameras and they did this, Iā€™d never buy another of their products again. As it is, they certainly lost a lot of user trust.

Conclusion

Low grade products, with lower grade support and common sense.

Wink is an American brand of software and hardware products that does smart home devices. During the middle of a COVID pandemic they decided to shift from paid to subscription only model with 7 days notice to customers -- meaning if customers don't pay the extortion then their products become useless. While they were going to piss off users either way, the way they handled was guaranteed to cause maximum irritation and alienation

Organizations
Organizations.png
There are many good organizations, many bad organizations. I'm more likely to comment on organizations whose reputation doesn't match their reality. If I hear too much corporatism (corporate worship), whether that's a Union, University or "Non-partisan" organization... or too much corporate bashing (by the same folks that rationalize worse behavior of other companies), then I'm probably going to write something on it.
COVID
The Coronavirus is named after the fact that under a microscope it looks like the surface of the sun, with lots of little protrusions and bumps. These are series of diseases, but the one everyone is talking about for now, is the Chinese (Wuhan COVID-19 for COrona VIrus Disease circa 2019, or SARS-CoV-2) that's going pandemic. While the CDC, WHO and FDA all blew their response, we've never seen a more effective response to a pandemic, and the U.S. outperformed most of the world in objective metrics. But as to be expected, partisan Democrats and their media never let an opportunity go to waste: to politicize, polarize, divide and undermine the American economy and people.
