 well meaning friend sent me the following email the other day:
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of PanAm Flight 103!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the military barracks in Saudi Arabia!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001!
REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks!
Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class holiday postage stamp.
REMEMBER to adamantly and vocally BOYCOTT this stamp when purchasing your stamps at the post office. To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.
REMEMBER to pass this along to every patriotic AMERICAN you know, whether by e-mail or otherwise.
         
REMEMBER the CHRISTIAN crusades?
REMEMBER the CHRISTIAN inquisition?
REMEMBER what the CHRISTIANS did to Native Americans?
REMEMBER what the CHRISTIANS did to all new cultures they met?
REMEMBER the slave trade was by CHRISTIANS?
REMEMBER Hitler was a CHRISTAIN?
REMEMBER the KKK is made of CHRISTIANS?
REMEMBER the Jim Jones cult was CHRISTIAN?
Now the U.S. puts CHRISTIAN slogans on our schools, government, money and buildings?
REMEMBER to adamantly BOYCOTT school, money and public buildings. To do otherwise would be a slap in the face to all those who have died or were treated unjustly at the hands of those that these buildings, money or country honor.
Of course my point is a little over-stated; but so was that one you passed on.
Most Muslims are not bad people; to blame them all for the acts of a few fanatics, is as unfair to them, as some of them are being towards all Americans, because of the actions of a few of us (or our military or government) is being towards them. This kind of mail lowers us to their level.
I'm not exactly a bleeding heart liberal (as you know). Still, I actually agree with the message of a stamp welcoming Muslims and their ideals; we have NO problems with Muslims or Arabs. We do have a problem with fanatics that would do us harm. The difference is that we are mature enough to recognize the difference, and we won't over generalize all of them, as some of them are doing to us.
